SONIMAGE MX1について語る言葉は尽きないのだが、最も語りたいのはインターフェイスである。近年、画面のタッチパネル化にともない、ハードウェアボタンは無くなる一方である。だが、この製品はあえて３つのダイヤルと５つのボタンを残している。これはヒアリングとユーザーテストを幾度も繰り返すことで生まれた「苦心の８つ」なのである。そしてこの「ユーザーにとことん寄り添う検討」こそがデザインの真骨頂なのだ。（選定委員／蘆澤 雄亮）

A portable ultrasound imaging device designed in pursuit of high-quality imaging. The broadband, high-frequency probe and new imaging engine reduce noise and improve imaging quality at all depths, from shallow to deep. Proprietary needle visualization technology facilitates easy, precise drug solution injection for affected areas and reduces patients’ pain. Point of care (POC) related needs, including bedside testing and bedside treatment, have grown in recent years. We added a large handle and stand for increased mobility, making it easier to bring the device to the patient. The five buttons and touchscreen are consolidated on the front to enable intuitive blind operation, and the compact device includes full-screen mode, facilitating easier viewing of the affected area's structure. There's no shortage of words to speak of SONIMAGE MX1, but I’d like to talk most about its interface. In recent years, hardware buttons have been disappearing in virtue of the popularization of touch panel screens. However, this product purposely left three dials and five buttons. This is the "eight efforts" created through repeated hearings and user tests. Thus this "examination to stand close to the user" is the essence of design. (Selection Committee / ASHIZAWA Yusuke)
