本製品は、高岡銅器の伝統着色技術を基礎に開発した、独自の銅着色技術で表面加工されている。0.6～1mmの銅板を、薬品や熱の科学反応により、全数を職人の手により発色させている。高岡銅器製造に於いて、着色は分業で、素材の保護や装飾の1工程となっており、独立した技術ではない。単独で用いられる事がない技術であるが、銅着色を主とした普段使いのテーブルウェアの提案によって、この技術の存在に気づきが生まれる事を期待した。塗装とは異なり、非常にデリケートな仕上げであるが、日常の使用によって製品そのものの表情が変化し、素材感や時間経過が現れる事で、暮らしに溶け込むことを想定した。（解説／戸田 祐希利）2013年2月発売

日本の金工着色技術の伝統を丁寧に辿りながら、新たな技法にも果敢に取り組み実現させ、現代のライフスタイルに合う感度の高い製品を創り出している点を高く評価している。塗装では無く金属の持つ素性を変化させた表情豊かな色合いは、多くの人に素材の持つ美しさを気づかせてくれるものであろう。“クラフトとデザイン”この2つの領域を融合することにおける模範といえる創り手であり、今後の新たな取り組みにも大いに期待したい。（選定委員／谷村 秀）

This product is surface-treated with a unique coloring method of copper developed based on traditional techniques for copperware made in Takaoka. Each copper plate around 0.6-1mm thick is colored by craftsmen with chemical reaction and heat. In Takaoka, the coloring process in copperware manufacturing is seen as one of the processes for protecting and decorating the material, not as a technique to be used on its own. However, our wish is for the technique to be noticed by providing tableware for everyday use made in this coloring method on copper surfaces. Unlike conventional coloring, it is a very delicate finish. Still, the design concept was for the product to blend into daily life as the appearance changes as a result of everyday use, revealing different texture and changes over time. While carefully following the traditional Japanese coloring techniques of metalwork, the manufacturer deserves high acclaim for creating new products with high sensitivity to fit the modern lifestyle by boldly tackling and realizing new technologies. The lively colors that are solely created by changes in the physical properties of metal, not by painting, will raise awareness of the material’s beauty. The product is an excellent example of an object that fuses the two areas of “craft and design,” and I look forward to seeing their further endeavors in the future.
