本商品は、過去市場に存在していた小型画面の電子ペーパー等とは異なり、十分な大きさの表示面と毎日使える機能を備えた「電子ノート」としてデザインされている。何より、LCDや有機ELの様な「自発光」の表示ではなくインクの様なやさしい表示と紙のような筆記具の書き味、独自GUIによるページを扱う様式など、感触にこだわったチューニングがなされている点が魅力である。（選定委員／小幡 真也）

QUADERNO is a piece of next generation stationary. It was born out of the concept, "the new business notebook." E-papers are currently primarily used for reading books. We have made the e-paper into a tool for writing that business professionals will find useful. The thin, light-weight device can hold enough data to fill approximately 100,000 notebooks. By using its schedule format, you can also use it as a planner. You can transfer your notes via apps to your computer and smartphone. For as many people as possible to benefit from the completely new advantages this new device offers, we have designed the device so that its appearance evokes the notebook, a piece of stationary everybody is familiar with. E-papers and such devices of the past had small displays. Unlike them, this product has been designed as an e-notebook with a large display and as a device with functions that make it something that is useful to use daily. Most of all, how this product has been carefully designed to be pleasing to the senses is delightful: because a self-luminous display like the LCD or OEL was not used in it, the writings look like they were written in ink and are gentle to the eyes; when you use the stylus pen it feels like you are writing on paper; and you control the functions related to the e-notebook's pages via a dedicated GUI.
